Asking about age
A common question is:
Wie alt bist du? = How old are you?
A simple answer is:
Ich bin 20 Jahre alt. = I am 20 years old.
Examples:
Wie alt bist du?
Ich bin 18 Jahre alt.
Wie alt seid ihr?
Wir sind 18 Jahre alt.
Wie alt sind Sie?
Ich bin 25 Jahre alt.
A note about age in German
In German, you use sein for age.
English:
- I am 20 years old.
German:
- Ich bin 20 Jahre alt.
So do not say “I have 20 years.” German does not use haben here.

Asking for a phone number
A useful question is:
Wie ist deine Telefonnummer? = What is your phone number?
A simple answer is:
Meine Telefonnummer ist … = My phone number is …
Examples:
Wie ist deine Telefonnummer?
Meine Telefonnummer ist 5551234.
You can also say the numbers one by one.
Asking for an address
A useful question is:
Wie ist deine Adresse? = What is your address?
A simple answer is:
Meine Adresse ist … = My address is …
Examples:
Wie ist deine Adresse?
Meine Adresse ist Hauptstraße 10.
A useful verb: heißen
You already know this verb from introductions.
heißen = to be called
It is also useful when asking for names.

A useful verb: wohnen
You can use wohnen when talking about where someone lives.
wohnen = to live
Examples:
Wo wohnst du? = Where do you live?
Ich wohne in Berlin. = I live in Berlin.
