Asking for help
A very useful phrase is:
Können Sie mir helfen? = Can you help me?
This is polite because it uses Sie.
Examples:
Entschuldigung, können Sie mir helfen?
Excuse me, can you help me?
Können Sie mir bitte helfen?
Can you please help me?
A small grammar point: können
können means can / to be able to.
In this lesson, you mostly need:

Examples:

Können Sie das wiederholen? = Can you repeat that?
For now, learn Können Sie …? as a polite question pattern.
Saying what you are looking for
Use:
Ich suche … = I am looking for …
Examples:

I am looking for a jacket.

I am looking for a sweater.
Ich suche die Kasse.
I am looking for the checkout.
Asking if the shop has something
Use:
Haben Sie …? = Do you have …?
Examples:
Haben Sie Wasser?
Do you have water?
Haben Sie eine Tüte?
Do you have a bag?
Haben Sie diese Jacke?
Do you have this jacket?
This is a very useful phrase in shops, cafés, restaurants, and many everyday situations.
Talking about size and color
Two useful words are:
die Größe = the size
die Farbe = the color
Useful phrases:
Welche Größe? = What size?
Welche Farbe? = What color?
Examples:
Welche Größe brauchen Sie?
What size do you need?
Welche Farbe möchten Sie?
What color would you like?
Simple answers:
Größe M. = Size M.
Schwarz, bitte. = Black, please.
Blau, bitte. = Blue, please.
